Buckinghamshire retail crime initiative launched
New Partnership introduces Aylesbury ShopWatch and Disc crime tracking system to enhance business security
Thames Valley Police, in collaboration with Aylesbury Town Council, has launched the Thames Valley Business Crime Reduction Partnership in Buckinghamshire. This initiative aims to tackle shoplifting and retail crime across the county through the introduction of Aylesbury ShopWatch and the implementation of crime tracking software known as Disc.
New data hub launched
The innovative Data Hub has been funded by Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Barber, to improve the accessibility and availability of local crime data.
The recorded crime data, which comes from Thames Valley Police, is displayed by crime type and includes crimes such as residential burglary, anti-social behaviour and vehicle crime.

Students and those going back to university are being warned about the top fraud types affecting young people, as new data reveals almost 69,000 reports were received from people aged between 11 and 29, losing a total of £143.7 million in 2023.

Statement following Employment Tribunal judgement on race discrimination
An employment tribunal has found that Thames Valley Police had discriminated against three white police officers because of their race when appointing an officer to a Priority Crime Team.
Matthew Barber said: “It is critical in building confidence across our whole community that there is never any discrimination in policing. In this case, the Employment Tribunal found that the Force had discriminated against the claimants on the basis of race. This is clearly unacceptable and should not have happened…
Further update on incidents of violent disorder across the country
I am hugely grateful to the officers who have supported other police forces and have had to face violence in dealing with this clear criminality. I know the men and women of Thames Valley Police will continue to address any threats with bravery and impartiality.
Thames Valley Police have a proven record of managing protest fairly and tackling disorder. I am confident that the Force will continue to police without fear or favour. Violence and disorder will not be tolerated whoever is responsible.
