KEEP THE LIGHTS ON
Help keep our streets safe!
Say NO to plans to switch off our street lights
Both Oxfordshire County Council and West Berkshire Council have announced plans to switch off street lights in their areas.
West Berkshire
As part of the Council’s budget consultation West Berkshire Council are asking for views on proposals to turn off street lights from midnight to 5am.
As well as signing this petition, you can respond to the council’s consultation on their website.
Oxfordshire
At the start of November Lib Dem-run Oxfordshire County Council announced plans to switch off or dim street lights across Oxfordshire - with no public consultation and against the advice of the police.
Thanks to the support of over 1,600 residents who signed this petition in less than 72 hours up until 13th November, these plans have now been deferred!
The changes being planned by Oxfordshire County Council may well come back however. If you oppose the proposal to turn off/dim your lights you can still sign your petition, so that there we can show the strength of support if these plans re-emerge.
I oppose plans to switch off our street lights.
