Policing needs a funding formula review now say PCCs
This [National Audit Office] report makes clear the urgent need for a review of the funding formula for policing. The model is outdated and does not take into account the needs of policing and our neighbourhoods, including rural areas. And the continued use of this formula is compounding the disparity between police forces making it harder for PCCs and Chief Constables. Forces can no longer wait for change - a review must happen now.

The lip service paid to consultations is damaging for everyone. If you are going to ask the people what they want, you have to listen to the answer.
Is the government having an identity crisis?
The principle of a more joined up, efficient government is one I whole-heartedly support. Yet a compulsory ID scheme, intended more to get the government out of a difficult situation than solve any real problems will only cost us all more, whilst making the way we live our lives in this country just that little bit worse.
Is there anything they won’t tax?
Death and taxes. The two things that we all know are guaranteed in life; and there seems to be a growing feeling that there is not much that governments would not slap a tax on.
Government bans ninja swords
We should not lose sight of the fact that most weapons used by criminals are normal household knives. Dealing with individual types of weapons is helpful, but there is no substitute for a robust policing response and continued work to prevent people carrying knives in the first place.
MP asked to back call for continued funding for victims of domestic abuse
Last year I warned about the impact of cuts to victims funding by the Ministry of Justice. Follow comments by Bracknell’s MP I have written to him today asking him to back my calls for a better funding settlement for victims services.
