Dry 2022!

I like a drink as much as the next man. Possibly more than the next man in fairness. So when I was thinking of things that I could do to help raise money for the Curtis Palmer Programme it wasn't the easiest of choices.

I'm not suddenly becoming a spokesman for the temperance movement, or launching a moral crusade, just making a small sacrifice in the hope of encouraging others to part with some cash for a good cause, as well as allowing me to save some money to contribute too.

The Curtis Palmer Programme is part of Pilgrim Bandits, a small charity that began life in 2007 providing support to injured servicemen and women. Through the Curtis Palmer Programme this support has been extended to the police and other emergency service personnel.

Police Officers from Thames Valley have benefited from their invaluable support and by contributing to this appeal you will be helping others in the future who have suffered some form of injury whilst putting others before themselves.

They raise funds for expeditions for those with physical or mental injuries and provide grants for specialist equipment and wheelchairs.

By working with Pilgrim Bandits, these individuals are pushed to new limits, both physically and mentally, which in turn starts to rebuild belief and confidence in one’s own ability again.

But for some of those who receive support, just to smile or to enjoy the company of others enables them to talk again about their experiences and to believe in a life worth living again.

So if at some point over the next year you might be inclined to by me a drink, please think about donating the cost of a pint to this great cause. Even if the chances of you ever wanting to spend some time at the bar with me are non-existent, perhaps you still consider giving generously to help injured emergency service personnel.
