QR codes are becoming increasingly common in everyday life, whether it’s scanning one to pay for parking, or receiving an email asking to verify an online account. However, reporting shows cyber criminals are increasingly using quishing as a way to trick the public out of their personal and financial information. 

It is clear that with cuts to policing budgets and the government’s determination to max out the bill for local council tax payers, there will simply be no way the Government can deliver on their promises.

Thames Valley Police reiterated previous reassurance that this change is not expected to have any negative impact on policing locally. The area continues to be served by a team of dedicated neighbourhood police constables and Police Community Support Officers, two of whom are stationed in Hungerford.  In addition to neighbourhood teams, there are 24/7 police response teams and other specialist teams that serve the community.

Organised waste crime, such as fly tipping can be big business for criminals, both in the Thames Valley and across the South East. 

Tuesday’s meeting with fellow PCCs from across the South East along with councils, landowners and the Environment Agency is an important step to ensuring a joined up approach across the region.
