But regardless of how you vote, it is important that you do vote. If you’re expecting to be busy on polling day, if you’re going away, or if it’s just more convenient for you to vote by post - you need to register now! You can apply online for a postal vote, but the deadline is 5pm this Wednesday (17th)! Simply visit www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote. You’ll need: the address where you are registered to vote your National Insurance number or other identity documents, for example a passport you’ll also need to upload a photo of your handwritten signature in black ink on plain white paper.
If you’re unable to complete the forms online it is possible to download a paper form, but given the deadline this will need to be delivered by hand to your local council. On the same website you can also find details about applying for a proxy vote (allowing someone else to vote on your behave), the deadline for this is 24th April.
